During his educational career, he earned a Master of Science Degree in Communications and Economics from the University of Guelph.

In the time away from his incredibly demanding schedule, Lance coaches boys and girls youth soccer and hockey. Mr. Sherk is a member of the Economic Development Association of Canada.
