Former Corporate Financial Analyst Wesley A. Austin, Ph.D. Finds New Calling as an Assistant Professor

LAFAYETTE, LA, April 21, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Wesley A. Austin, Assistant Professor for the Department of Economics and Finance of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of economics instruction.

Originally in the finance field, Dr. Wesley A. Austin took a part-time job in night school as an economics instructor and immediately fell in love with teaching. Convinced that he had found his calling, he decided to resign from his job as a corporate financial analyst and pursue his Ph.D. He is now on his second year with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he conducts classes in labor, education and health economics issues. As assistant professor, he is responsible for teaching classes on the graduate level and in the lower and upper divisions, tracking qualifications of faculty for the purpose of accreditation, and conducting research on human capital in relation to education and health. He also sits on several university committees from time to time. Dr. Austin attributes his successful transition into a second career to his strong work ethic and to the help he received from his mentors.

A proud alumnus of the University of South Florida, Dr. Austin received his Ph.D. in Economics in 2006, his Master of Arts in Economics in 1995, and his Bachelor of Arts in Finance in 1993. He is a board member of the educational committee of his local Chamber of Commerce, and is a member of the Southern Economic Association and the American Economic Association. Dr. Austin looks forward to more years in the academe, expanding his horizons by networking with his colleagues and conducting research in various disciplines.
