Profiles International Takes the Texas Business Pulse
Company teams with Sam Houston State to assess the impact on business strategy caused by the current economic crisis

SAN ANTONIO, TX, December 11, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Profiles International, the world leader in employment evaluation and human resource management assessment tools, is partnering with the College of Business Administration at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) to discern how the current economic climate is affecting Texas businesses and specifically their efforts to recruit and retain talented workers. Profiles and SHSU are conducting a survey of businesses throughout the state.

Questions in the survey will focus on the issues businesses anticipate facing in 2009. The goal is to learn what challenges could affect Texas businesses the most in the upcoming year while giving managers insight into how their peers at other businesses are coping with similar issues.

"People are an organization's most valuable - and costliest asset," said Bud Haney, president and chief financial officer of Profiles International. "We want companies to be aware of what issues managers are facing when it comes to employees. The goal is to help develop viable solutions so organizations get the most out of their people and their hiring programs."

The current economic climate makes it imperative that businesses get the most productivity out of all of their assets, including their people. Executives will be faced with decisions about training, hiring and promotion. Some executives may be tempted to cut staff in order to save costs. That could be more expensive in the long run once the economy turns around and the pool of qualified talent is drained.

The online survey is now available to the senior executives of companies throughout the state that have at least 100 employees. Profiles is providing a link to the survey, which should take about five minutes.

The anonymous survey will remain open to respondents through the end of December. Both Profiles and SHSU provided questions for the survey and the analysis of the answers will be done by the College of Business Administration at SHSU.

Results of the survey will be broken down in several categories including geographic regions, company size and industry. They will be available by mid-January.
